CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)

Bles-Wold Yogurt Machine CLA is an essential fatty acid that new research is uncovering as a promising food component that may provide health benefits related to cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, bone density and obesity. CLA is a naturally occurring nutrient found in beef and dairy products.

The biological activity of CLA was first discovered in the late 1970's by researchers investigating the carcinogenic properties of grilled hamburger. They found there were anti-carcinogenic properties as well. They isolated the component responsible for this effect and identified it as CLA.

CLA is technically a "trans" fatty acid because it is partially hydrogenated. However, it is a clear exception to the negative messages consumers typically receive about trans fat. Those messages are associated with trans fat that results primarily from the hydrogenation of vegetables fats and oil through commercial processes. Natural trans fats, including those contained in ruminant fats, do not share the harmful properties of commercial ones. Rather these natural trans fats may be health promoting, with important rolls to play in the human body. In fact, in recognition of CLA's potential health benefits, Health Canada did not include CLA as part of the total trans fat in the new nutrition label.

Fresh and without artificial colors or preservatives, Bles-Wold Yogurt has always been a healthy choice. But now all 9 of the flavors available in the Bles-Wold Yogurt line are the first to feature a natural Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) statement.

The new yogurt line was developed in cooperation with the CLA network. Founded in Canada in 2001, the CLA network is a team of researchers, food industry representatives, and health professionals devoted to tapping the potential of natural CLA found in dairy and beef products. Since 2005, the CLA Network has worked directly with Bles-Wold to help it develop dietary formulations used to produce the new yogurt line.

Probiotics

Probiotics are dietary factors that help promote the growth of friendly bacteria (flora) in our intestinal tract. A good balance is 85% friendly and neutral flora and 15% harmful flora. Friendly floras are essential for proper digestive health, stimulating immune system and preventing the overgrowth of harmful flora. Due to poor diet, environmental pollution, alcohol and antibiotics the harmful flora start to outnumber friendly flora, resulting in a condition known as dysbiosis. Dysbiosis can cause digestive problems such as flatulence, bloating leaky gut syndrome and increases vulnerability to infections and allergies. Consumption of fermented foods such as Bles-Wold Yogurt which contain probiotics can be beneficial to your health.
