Welcome to Bles-Wold Dairy

We started Bles-Wold Dairy in 1994, on a fine location near Lacombe, in Central Alberta's Parkland. The black soil is very fertile and excellent for growing feed crops for the cows. Born and raised on dairy farms ourselves, we recognized the potential!

In August 1994, we started building the new facility and by February 1995, we were ready to milk cows. In 1996, we started to produce yogurt as a hobby and it soon turned into a sideline business. At that point, the barn was converted into a licensed processing facility.

Hennie operates the dairy with son in law Ben, Tom, Carlos and some part timers.

Currently, 270 cows are producing 2.7 million kg milk per year. The majority of the animals are Purebred Holsteins. Since 2005 the Fleckvieh dual purpose breed is introduced and all the animals born since then are 50% Holstein and 50% Fleckvieh. The herd is milked 3 times per day, through a double 10 parallel parlor. During the summer, our cows are kept outside on a daily basis. They are fed a TMR (Total Mixed Ration), which consists of hay, barley silage, haylage, rolled barley, ground corn, a supplement, and sunflower seed (to increase CLA in the milk). Most of the ingredients are grown on the farm, where there is 450 acres available. This land is under a nutrient management plan to balance crop production with manure (as a result we use very little fertilizer).

Our Dairy was one of the first farms in Canada to be certified under The Canadian Milk Quality Program.

We take pride in keeping the farm clean and organized. With our strict operating procedures, this ensures high quality milk going into the red barn for yogurt production.
